Publication Ethics and Misconduct

The Journal of Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, and Safety is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication misconduct. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

  • Authors must ensure that their submitted work is original and has not been published previously or submitted to another journal.
  • Authors must properly cite and acknowledge the work of others.
  • Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is unacceptable.
  • Authors must ensure that all listed authors have significantly contributed to the research.
  • Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest that may influence the research or interpretation of results.
  • Authors must promptly notify the editor if a significant error is discovered in their published work.

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively and fairly.
  • Reviewers must maintain confidentiality of the manuscript.
  • Reviewers must not use unpublished information for personal advantage.
  • Reviewers must disclose conflicts of interest and decline review if necessary.
  • Reviewers should provide constructive feedback to improve the manuscript.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the manuscript’s academic merit.
  • Editors must ensure a fair and unbiased peer review process.
  • Editors must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.
  • Editors must not use unpublished information for personal advantage.
  • Editors must act upon suspected ethical violations or misconduct.

4. Publication Misconduct

Publication misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate publication
  • Improper authorship attribution
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

5. Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to the journal are screened for plagiarism using appropriate plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism may be rejected immediately.

6. Handling of Misconduct

If ethical misconduct is suspected or confirmed, the journal will take appropriate action, including but not limited to:

  • Rejecting the manuscript
  • Requesting corrections
  • Retracting published articles
  • Notifying the author’s institution if necessary
