This issue showcases current advances in computational toxicology through the application of in silico approaches for predicting the safety profiles of therapeutic drugs. The featured studies investigate toxicity-related mechanisms, including molecular initiating events, stress response pathways, nuclear receptor signalling pathways, toxicity targets, toxicity metabolism, organ toxicity, and toxicity end points, using computational models to evaluate several commonly prescribed medicines. These contributions highlight the growing importance of predictive toxicology as a rapid, cost-effective, and ethically responsible approach for supporting early drug safety assessment and mechanistic toxicological research. Collectively, the articles demonstrate how computational methodologies can enhance pharmaceutical research by improving toxicity prediction and facilitating evidence-based drug development.
