Digital Preservation
The Journal of Marine Pharmacy and Biomedicine (JMPB) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and availability of its published scholarly content. To safeguard against data loss and ensure continued access to published articles, the journal implements digital preservation strategies and archiving practices.
Archiving and Preservation
All published articles are stored and maintained through the journal's online publishing platform and institutional server infrastructure. Regular backups are performed to protect journal content from accidental loss, technical failures, or other unforeseen events.
The journal supports long-term digital preservation through:
- Regular server and database backups.
- Secure storage of published content.
- Persistent article identification through Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), where applicable.
- Open-access availability of published articles.
PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
The journal utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to digitally preserve its content. PKP PN provides free preservation services for journals using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, ensuring long-term access to published content in the event that the journal website becomes unavailable.
LOCKSS and CLOCKSS Compatibility
JMPB supports interoperability with digital preservation systems such as:
- LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)
- CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)
where available through the journal hosting environment and institutional infrastructure.
Institutional Archiving
Published articles may also be archived in institutional repositories, indexing databases, and scholarly archives that support long-term preservation and accessibility of academic content.
Commitment to Permanent Accessibility
The journal is dedicated to maintaining permanent and reliable access to all published content. In the event of a journal platform migration, website redesign, or technical disruption, every effort will be made to ensure uninterrupted access to archived articles and metadata.
Through these preservation practices, JMPB seeks to guarantee that published research remains accessible to researchers, educators, practitioners, and the wider scientific community for future generations.
