Reviewer Guidelines

Articles published in the Journal of Teacher Wellbeing undergo thorough peer review and support COPE guidelines for reviewers. Journals may operate different peer review processes. Our guide to understanding peer review outlines several different peer review models, including:

  • Single anonymous peer review
  • Double anonymous peer review

Journal of Teacher Wellbeing publishes a statement explaining the peer review model used by the journal on the journal's homepage. A minimum of two independent reviewers is usually required for each research article. The goals and scope of each journal will outline their peer review policies in detail.

Detailed comments, as well as overall recommendations from peer reviewers, will be considered by the Editor when making a decision. However, the ultimate responsibility for acceptance or rejection rests with the Editor.

Please note that the Journal of Teacher Wellbeing does not allow the recommendation of peer reviewers.

Confidentiality of peer review

Maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of the peer review process and editorial decision-making at all stages is required, complying with data protection regulations. Invited reviewers must declare a competing interest before submitting their report to the journal. Suppose they wish to engage colleagues as co-reviewers for an article. In that case, they should check with the journal's editorial office before sharing the manuscript and include their names, affiliations, and relevant competing interests in comments to the Editor when they return their report.

In investigating ethical questions, submitted manuscripts, authors, reviewers, and others will be treated confidentially. During the investigation, the editor may need to share information with third parties, such as the author's ethics committee and institution
