Funding Model: Diamond Open Access

Our journal operates under a no-fee model:

  • No Article Processing Charges (APCs): Authors are not required to pay any fees for submission, processing, or publication.

  • No Subscription Fees: All readers have immediate and permanent free access to all published content.

  • No Paywalls: The entire publication process, from submission to archiving, is free of charge.


Primary Revenue & Support Sources

To sustain our diamond open access model, the journal relies on the following non-author-pays sources:

1. Institutional & University Funding

  • Core Institutional Support: Primary funding provided by our host institution, University Indonesia / University Indonesia.

  • Consortium Support: Annual contributions from partner universities and research institutes aligned with our mission.

  • In-Kind Support: Provision of infrastructure, administrative staff, and technical resources from supporting institutions.

2. Grants & Public Funding

  • Research Council Grants: Competitive grants from national funding bodies (e.g., BRIN, Kemdikbudristek).

  • Public Knowledge Project (PKP) Support: Subsidies or grants for using and developing open-source publishing systems.

  • International Development Grants: Funding from organizations supporting open scholarship in the Global South.

3. Sponsorships & Partnerships

  • Academic Society Sponsorships: Financial support from professional or scholarly associations.

  • Cultural & Heritage Organization Support: Grants from institutions focused on Indonesian culture, diversity, and heritage.

  • Ethical Publishing Partnerships: Collaboration with organizations that support non-commercial academic publishing.

4. Donations & Community Support

  • Production & Editorial Workflow (Copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration, XML conversion)

  • Preservation & Indexing (Digital archiving in CLOCKSS/Portico, indexing service fees)

  • Community Engagement (Webinars, reviewer recognition, open science advocacy)

Transparency Reports

The journal publishes an annual financial transparency report detailing:

  • Reserves and sustainability outlook

  • This report is made publicly available on our website.
