Archiving Policy

Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Journal of Counseling (BTIJC) is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. We recognize the importance of maintaining scholarly records for future generations, and we have established a robust archiving policy to ensure permanent access to our articles.

1. Digital Archiving with Reputable Services

Portico and LOCKSS: BTIJC partners with trusted digital preservation services such as Portico and the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system. These partnerships allow our published content to be stored in multiple, secure digital repositories, protecting it from accidental loss, technological obsolescence, or other risks.

National and Institutional Repositories: BTIJC also encourages archiving in national and institutional repositories that comply with open-access and digital preservation standards to broaden the accessibility of published content.

2. Self-Archiving by Authors

Author Rights to Self-Archive: BTIJC supports the right of authors to self-archive their published work. Authors are permitted to deposit the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other platforms, provided that a citation and link to the official version on the BTIJC website is included.

Preprint and Postprint Policy: Authors may also archive preprint versions (before peer review) and postprint versions (after peer review and revision) of their manuscripts in public repositories, with appropriate acknowledgment that BTIJC is the original source of publication.

3. Metadata Preservation

BTIJC ensures the long-term preservation of comprehensive article metadata—including titles, author names, abstracts, keywords, and citation details. Metadata is stored in multiple standardized formats to facilitate indexing in academic databases and discoverability via search engines.

4. DOI Assignment for Permanence

Each article published in BTIJC is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring a permanent and unique link to the content. The use of DOIs enables stable referencing even if the journal’s website structure changes in the future.

5. Continuous Availability of Journal Content

To ensure uninterrupted access, BTIJC implements regular backups and server redundancy strategies. In the event of technical disruptions, journal content can be quickly restored, minimizing downtime and maintaining the availability of all published articles.

6. Policy in the Event of Journal Discontinuation

If BTIJC were to cease publication, we will coordinate with archiving services and digital repositories to maintain perpetual access to the journal archive. This guarantees that all previously published articles remain accessible and preserved for the academic community.
