The Journal of Community Development Diversity (JCDD) is dedicated to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. We recognize the importance of ensuring that research remains available to future generations, and we have established an archiving policy that guarantees permanent access to our articles.
1. Digital Archiving with Reputable Services
- Portico and LOCKSS: JCDD partners with trusted archiving services such as Portico and the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure long-term digital preservation. These partnerships enable our content to be stored in multiple digital repositories, protecting it from accidental loss, technological obsolescence, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- National and Institutional Repositories: JCDD encourages archiving within national and institutional repositories that comply with open-access and preservation standards, further enhancing content accessibility.
2. Self-Archiving by Authors
- Author Rights to Self-Archive: JCDD supports authors’ rights to self-archive their published work. Authors may deposit the published version of their article in institutional or subject repositories, personal websites, or other platforms, provided they include a link to the official publication on the JCDD website.
- Preprint and Postprint Policy: Authors are permitted to archive preprint versions (prior to peer review) and postprint versions (peer-reviewed, final drafts) in public repositories, as long as they acknowledge JCDD as the original publication source.
3. Metadata Preservation
- Comprehensive Metadata Storage: JCDD ensures the preservation of article metadata, which includes titles, author names, abstracts, keywords, and citation information. This metadata is stored in multiple formats to enhance discoverability and accessibility across indexing services and search engines.
4. DOI Assignment for Permanence
- Permanent DOI for Each Article: Every article published in JCDD is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), providing a permanent and unique link to the content. This ensures that even if the journal's website structure changes, each article remains accessible via its DOI.
5. Continuous Availability of Journal Content
- Backups and Redundancy: JCDD employs secure backups and server redundancy strategies to protect all journal content. In case of technical issues, our archives can be restored promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous access to published materials.
6. Policy in the Event of Journal Discontinuation
- Access Continuity: If JCDD were ever to cease publication, arrangements would be made with archiving services and repositories to continue the availability of the full journal archive, ensuring that previously published articles remain accessible and preserved.
